If you’re interested in scuba diving, but aren’t sure if you want to enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver class, Diving Scuba Discover is the best way to try it out. In a very short time, you will learn basic diving skills and experience your first breaths underwater. Kish Diving and Marine Recreation Center offers DSD diving services. DSD diving in Kish Marine Recreation Center

The DSD (Diving Scuba Discover PADI) program is a one-day scuba diving experience for ages 10 and up. This is not a full scuba certification, but a great way to connect with the underwater world and find out if scuba diving is for you. In this experience, you will learn how to use scuba gear, dive signals, and perform basic underwater diving skills in shallow water.

How long does the DSD program take?

This is a one-day PADI program that gives you the experience of diving to a depth of 12 meters, although it does not come with a certification, it can be counted as the first open water dive towards a PADI open water certification.

How long is a Scuba Discover dive?

This experience varies from person to person depending on how fast or slow you breathe in the scuba tank. Most recreational dives last between 30 and 60 minutes.

How deep do we dive in this program?

First of all, it is important to know that you will not go deeper than you feel comfortable. The maximum depth for the D.S.D diving experience is about 6 meters for the initial session. An optional dive is at a depth of 12 meters if desired, but that doesn’t mean you have to go that deep.

Important requirements in DSD diving

PADI’s Scuba Discover Diving program is suitable for complete beginners with no prior diving experience. The only requirement to start your diving adventure is that you must be 10 years of age or older. For those under 10 there is a PADI Bubblemaker course.

Medical conditions

Any medical condition that affects your respiratory or cardiovascular system, or may cause you to suddenly and unexpectedly become unresponsive, may mean you cannot dive. Common contraindications include asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, and heart disease.
